My name is Zach Ruffin, this blog is intended to be a personal space for me to share things that I'm working on, or things that I'm interested in, outside of the hustle and bustle of normal social media. I really don't like the idea of giant corporations owning all of my data so this is me taking a slice back for myself.
A little about me: I'm a father of three, I like tending my flower garden, watching baseball, and I've been doing web development professionally since ~2000. These days I mostly do back-end work in C#, Java, and Python, nothing fancy. Previously at [The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children](https://www.ncmec.org/home) (one of my favorite jobs of all time) I led the team that replaced their 20 year old legacy case management system with a brand new system built from the ground up. Easily my proudest accomplishment to date, my small scrappy in-house dev team succeeded where several brand name consulting firms had failed.
More recently I'm working at an AI company where I have a front row seat to the coming singularity.
I'm currently based out of Alexandria VA, in the DC Metro area of the United States.
All photos are taken by me, unless otherwise noted.
Why I pledge to never use AI to generate any posts or images for this blog.
